Yucaipa Animal Placement Society's 10th annual On par for paws, golf for the
animals fundraiser was the purr-fect way to benefit the local no kill
nonprofit animal shelter. The event, made possible by Cunningham-Davis
Corporation and the Yucaipa Rotary Club, was a huge success for the shelter
helping to raise much need funding for homeless animals within the
community.
An animalistic affair, golfers were greeted by birds and four-legged friends
alike. The festivities started early, with check-in at 7 am and poodle
put-put putting contest shortly before the shotgun start at 8am. It was
truly a day of fun to benefit the animals, with games and fun to be found on
several of the holes as golfers made their way through the course.
Jeff Beaulieu and Judy Roseth were the winners of the weiner dog run, or the
longest drive. Awards were also given to the first place men's team which
included players John Meurer, Bob Gallagher, Lawrence Luoma, and Ben Tores.
The first place mixed team was none other than Yucaipa Rotary's own Jeff
Beaulieu, Dave Mishodek, Sherri Laffey-Stanton and Carl Arend.
Kermit Alexander, a former San Francisco 49er defensive back also picked up
the clubs for the cause as a means of furthering his commitment to adoption
to include those with four legs. Having recently adopted five children from
Haiti with his wife Tami, the entire family joined the golfers for lunch and
consequently fell in love with YAPS resident Chex.
The day concluded with raffle prizes and silent auction items donated from
animal loving businesses alike. For more information on YAPS and how to get
