Record Number of Pets Placed By YAPS in 2016
YAPS is proud to announce that we have placed 640 homeless pets in 2016. The grand tally is 395 dogs and 245 cats placed. These numbers equate an unmeasurable amount of love. This is the highest number of pets adopted out in YAPS’ 59 year history.
"At YAPS, we save lives by accepting pets from owners and rescuing those that face euthanasia in local shelters. These pets in turn, change the lives of the families that adopt them from YAPS. This is a great way to be part of a positive change in our community," said YAPS Director, Annette Florez.
In 2016, YAPS accepted 426 dogs and cats from owners that could no longer care for them and rescued 169 dogs from the following local municipal shelters located in: Redlands, Devore, San Bernardino City, Corona, Coachella Valley, Apple Valley, and Rancho Cucamonga.
“It is truly a team effort to help this many homeless pets,” said Ginger Bryk, Operations Manager at YAPS.
Yucaipa Animal Placement Society was founded by Betty and Jim Martines in 1957. The YAPS facility was built in 1983, at the current location on 13th Street in Yucaipa. YAPS staff and volunteers are dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets in the region.
