Redlands senior residents are now eligible for the Yucaipa Animal Placement Society's senior program in 2011. Previously, YAPS was only able to provide pet care assistance to qualifying seniors in the Yucaipa, Calimesa, and Mentone communities. They are very excited to be able to broaden their service area to include their neighboring city to the east (Redlands).

The program, made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Riverside, provides monetary assistance to qualifying pet owners on a limited income, to insure that the benefits of pet ownership can be afforded to everyone. The assistance can be used to help provide for the pet’s medical needs, be it a routine exam and vaccines or offsetting the cost of an emergency health issue.

To qualify, seniors must be age 65 or older and make no more than $1,500 a month as a single income household and $3,000 a month for a duel income household. To apply for the program proof of income, residency and pet ownership is necessary. Call Yucaipa Animal Placement Society, YAPS, at (909) 790-1440 for more information on how to take advantage of this amazing opportunity!
