It is no secret that living in the rural areas of Yucaipa lend residents and their pets to continual interaction with the local wildlife.  As spring has sprung, so have our serpent friends.  The warmer weather brings out a very dangerous slithering foe, the rattlesnake.  The venom of the rattler can impose devastating if not deadly results to people and pets alike if bitten.

In an effort to decrease the risk Yucaipa Animal Placement Society, YAPS, has joined Canine Companions Dog Training in offering a class to teach rattle snake avoidance techniques to dogs and their people.  Join Kym Caldwell of Canine Companions and herpetologist Robert Black in an educational classroom session for the humans starting at 8:30am, followed by an outdoor interactive aversion session with the dogs to insure that both you and your pet are snake smart.  The class is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th at 8:30am and cost is $75.  The class will be held at the YAPS center, located at 11937 13th Street in Yucaipa.  For more information about the class or to reserve your spot, please contact Kym of Canine Companions at (909) 795-9292.
