The students of Yucaipa Christian School  joined together to gather food and other animal care supplies for the orphaned dogs and cats at Yucaipa Animal Placement Society, better known as YAPS.  As a non-profit, no kill shelter, YAPS relies on the generous efforts of folks, such as these students, to help care for the animals it saves.

The K-Kids of Yucaipa’s Ridgeview Elementary orchestrated a campaign at their school to collect food and supplies for their four-legged friends residing at Yucaipa Animal Placement Society! Lasting two weeks with several announcements over the school’s loud speakers encouraging their fellow students to contribute to the pets, this driving force of enterprising youths collected a variety of treats, food, blankets and cleaning supplies all to benefit their furry friends.

The High Desert Pinto Horse Association recently presented a generous donation to its furry friends at YAPS. The $400 donation was the purse prize for the Charity Class at their Spring Extravaganza, a class that was created in memory of Todd Alan Peterson, and that the group nominated YAPS as the charity recipient.

Friends of Yucaipa Animal Placement Society and animal lovers alike are invited to attend a free dog training workshop made possible by Enlighten Dogs trainer, Elicia Casey.  The class will be held Wednesday, May 9th at 5:00pm at the center. Participants are encouraged to arrive at 4:30 to secure their favorite shelter pooch, or bring their own fully vaccinated dog for an hour of learning and fun.  This training will cover the basics in obedience providing volunteers with the opportunity to learn the skills to assist not only the YAPS dogs, but their own pets as well.
