The High Desert Pinto Horse Association recently presented a generous donation to its furry friends at YAPS. The $400 donation was the purse prize for the Charity Class at their Spring Extravaganza, a class that was created in memory of Todd Alan Peterson, and that the group nominated YAPS as the charity recipient.

Friends of Yucaipa Animal Placement Society and animal lovers alike are invited to attend a free dog training workshop made possible by Enlighten Dogs trainer, Elicia Casey.  The class will be held Wednesday, May 9th at 5:00pm at the center. Participants are encouraged to arrive at 4:30 to secure their favorite shelter pooch, or bring their own fully vaccinated dog for an hour of learning and fun.  This training will cover the basics in obedience providing volunteers with the opportunity to learn the skills to assist not only the YAPS dogs, but their own pets as well. Redlands resident, Rachel Roesch was on a mission when she and a friend began their newest venture, the Kridder Klub.  A huge animal lover, Rachel boasts three dogs of her own and also volunteers her time at Yucaipa Animal Placement Society.  Following after her mom and grandmother, both of whom have a long history of volunteering with local animal shelters, Rachel took it the next step and started a club that would help animal related causes.

Assemblyman Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley) is hosting a Yucaipa ceremony and open house to honor the 65th Assembly District’s Woman of the Year, Nicole Laffey, on April 21.  Laffey serves as the Executive Director for the Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS).  The event begins at 2:00 PM and will take place at the YAPS animal shelter, located at 11937 13th Street in Yucaipa.  The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
