A new volunteer to Yucaipa Animal Placement Society, Deann Day an employee of Nordstrom Distribution Center quickly went to work campaigning for the local no-kill, nonprofit animal shelter. Organizing a supply drive at the Nordstrom’s center, she printed the shelter’s wish list from their website, distributed it to fellow employees and placed containers in several locations to collect the items. The three bins were left in place for one month, garnering two truck beds, full of items to assist the furry friends at Yucaipa Animal Placement Society.

Pictured here is Deann and fellow YAPS volunteer, Ashlynn, with the supplies she worked so hard to collect. “We are so grateful for volunteers like Deann who jump in, see a need and help us fill it. The generosity of the Nordstrom’s employees was overwhelming, providing us with an abundance of much-needed items. We are so grateful for their support and their continued interest in helping our furry friends, it could not have come at a better time” said Nicole Laffey, YAPS Executive Director.

Girl Scout Troop 1453 has been busy the last couple of weeks, heading up a campaign to raise money for pet supplies for Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS). In observance of Earth Day, the girls went all over the area; collecting cans to take to cash in at local recycling centers. The girls used the proceeds raised from the endeavor to purchase much needed pet supplies for the animals housed at YAPS. Shown here is a photo of the Troop, minus Taylor Freestone who was unable come that day, and the items they donated.
