Y.A.P.S. stands for "Yucaipa Animal Placement Society", a temporary shelter for cats and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. Here at Y.A.P.S. we provide our animals a safe and loving environment until a suitable adoptive "forever home" can be found. We see to it that every pet is spayed or neutered, healthy and up to date on all their vaccinations before they are adopted.
Yucaipa Animal Placement Society is a limited intake private shelter; we are unable to take stray animals. You can find information regarding the Intake Process and how you can help here.
24PetWatch maintains a database linking registered pets and pet guardians to their unique identification codes. Clinics, shelter or animal control centers use the identification code when they call the 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Center to find out the lost pet's guardian information.
If you are interested in protecting your dog, consider a Microchip. Y.A.P.S. can Microchip your dog for only $25. Proof of pet ownership is required. Contact us for a Microchip appointment.

Why Are There So Many Homeless Pets?
We have an overwhelming, inexcusable pet overpopulation problem in this country. Each year approximately 8 million healthy dogs and cats are killed simply because there aren't enough homes for all of them. This is caused by people not spaying/neutering their pets or intentionally breeding them thinking it is OK because (1) the pet is a "purebred", (2) the pet should experience motherhood (of course, the chances are much greater the pet will also experience mammary cancer), (3) spay/neuter changes the personality or appearance of the animal (will this myth ever go away?) or ...

Volunteers Needed
We need Volunteers! Because we survive on donations only, we are not able to hire the people needed to care for the cats and dogs properly, which is why we rely so heavily on volunteers. Can you find it in your heart to volunteer a few hours per week? If the answer is yes, please contact us today, (909) 790-1440.Learn more about volunteering. >>
Y.A.P.S. uses Microchip Technology
All dogs adopted through Y.A.P.S. are implanted with Microchip technology. A Microchip is an encapsulated computer chip (about the size of a large grain of rice) that contains a unique identification code, allowing easy identification if your pet should ever become lost. The unique identification code can be identified (read) using a hand-held scanner available at many animal shelters, veterinary clinics and animal control agencies.24PetWatch maintains a database linking registered pets and pet guardians to their unique identification codes. Clinics, shelter or animal control centers use the identification code when they call the 24PetWatch Pet Recovery Center to find out the lost pet's guardian information.
