This program is designed for young students ages 10-13 years of age that have completed a minimum of 10 hours in the YAPS Off-Site Service Hour Program and be approved by a qualified staff member.  It is ideal for individuals needing more than 10 volunteer service hours and/or interested in volunteering year round.

Every minor under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Opportunities to complete 10 - 20 hours of service:

  • Monthly participation in the Wags and Walk at YAPS. Bring a YAPS resident doggy on a walk through the beautiful terrain. Please see events page for upcoming dates.
  • Monthly participation in the PAWSitive Reading Club at YAPS. Hang out on the grass and read to the dogs at YAPS to help socialize them and give them a chance to relax.  Please see events page for upcoming dates.
  • Organize a supply drive at your school, church, sports team, store front or birthday party. Choose from a collection drive for pet food, supplies, books, dog & cat toys, Kong & peanut butter, etc.
  • Organize a fundraiser for the furry friends of YAPS such as paws to recycle, bake sale, rummage sale, pennies for pets, etc.

Please read the policies and procedures manual for details.

For first time volunteers please sign in upon arrival for PAWSitive Reading Club.  All volunteers must have a completed Waiver of Liability, Lend-A-Paw application and the last page of the Policies and Procedures Manual signed and on file in the YAPS office.
